Lanvin for H&M: coming November

Confirmed: it is indeed Alber Elbaz of Lanvin who will be the next luxury designer to collaborate with Swedish fast fashion retailer H&M.

A special video featuring the designs will debut on November 2 while the collection hits stores a few weeks later on November 23. Elbaz, who previously vowed to not take on the mass market, says what intrigued him was the idea of H&M stepping up to the world of luxury, rather than Lanvin going down the H&M route.

For Americans this means a due trip to the local H&M store (if it is one of the 200 or so stores carrying the collection) right before the onslaught of Black Friday madness. Years ago I vowed to stay home during this frenzy ridden weekend and I’ve kept my promise. This year will be no exception, as long as the collection does hit one of the Seattle H&M stores on the 23rd. Lanvin for H&M is undoubtedly the most anticipated event this fall following Fashion’s Night Out and Fall Fashion Week.

nouvelle belle du jour

Paris, sex in the afternoon, patent trenches, glossy sunglasses, blonde-blonde-blonde hair.

Just a few things that come to mind when one says “Belle de Jour”, the 1967 film starring Catherine Deneuve as the sexually frustrated housewife who moonlights as a prostitute by day.

The great Yves Saint Laurent was responsible for some of Deneuve’s most inspiring onscreen looks.

Here’s a fashion remake of “Belle du Jour” via Fall Fashion Week.
